You mentioned that the colors seemed off, and I don't know if this is what you were noticing, but it occurred to me that the colors of the character don't quite mesh with the background colors. This might have to do with the difference between the shading of the figure and the shading of the background. The background has many colors in its shadows (for example, the trees have blue shadows, and the rocks have green) but the figure doesn't have the same color variety, making it seem out of place. Matching the shading techniques of the background and the figure could help unify the light source and color scheme of the image.
Also, I noticed that the extra space at the top third of the image takes focus away from the character, which should be the central part of this piece. A quick fix would be to cut off the top section from about half way down that big horizontal tree branch.
Overall, this piece is very beautiful to look at and you've shown good craftsmanship in finishing and polishing it.
